About

Purpose of the role To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. Accountabilities Development and delivery of high‑quality software solutions using industry‑aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensure code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. Collaborate cross‑functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration aligned with business objectives. Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing. Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, actively contributing to the organization’s technology communities to foster technical excellence. Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions. Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability. Assistant Vice President Expectations Advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Collaborate closely with other functions and business divisions. Lead a team performing complex tasks, using well‑developed professional knowledge and skills to deliver work that impacts the whole business function. Set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives; appraise performance relative to objectives and determine reward outcomes. Demonstrate clear leadership behaviours to create an environment for colleagues to thrive and deliver a consistently excellent standard. Guide team members through structured assignments and identify the need for additional specialization to complete assignments. Identify new directions for assignments and/or projects, combining cross‑functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes. Consult on complex issues, providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues. Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies and procedures to support the control and governance agenda. Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls related to the work performed. Perform work related to other areas, requiring understanding of how areas coordinate to achieve organizational objectives. Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources to solve problems creatively and effectively. Communicate complex information, influencing or convincing stakeholders to achieve outcomes. What you will be doing Design, develop, and implement high‑performance platforms and systems to enable advanced research and analytics capabilities. Develop, maintain, and optimize custom analytics tools, monitoring, alerting tools, dashboards, and frameworks to support data‑driven decision‑making and risk management. Support seamless integration of quantitative models into trading systems, ensuring reliability and scalability across global markets. Build and maintain scalable, efficient data pipelines for ingestion, storage, processing, and visualization of complex datasets. Collaborate with researchers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate analytical requirements into actionable development tasks and technical solutions. Enhance the speed, reliability, and scalability of existing platforms and analytics systems through continuous performance tuning and re‑engineering. Design and implement cloud‑native solutions to leverage distributed computing and storage capabilities. Produce thorough documentation of system architectures, code, models, workflows, development processes, and adhere to software development best practices and version control. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Work Location & Compensation Location: New York, NY (hybrid role, may telecommute pursuant to company policies). Salary: $189,592 – $195,000 per year (base salary). Eligible for incentives through Barclays Employee Referral Program.
