Mater Private is seeking to recruit a Finance Operations Manager . We are looking for enthusiastic, compassionate individual. Job Title Finance Operations Manager Department Finance Reporting Line Head of Group Finance Operations Hours of Work 37 Remuneration Commensurate with experience Purpose of the role As an integral member of the Mater Private Finance function, the Finance Operations Manager role will manage and lead the development of their teams within the finance department. The role will involve assessing and documenting the current structures, processes, systems, and workflows within the department with a view to making demonstrable process improvements and improving data management. Working with the Head of Group Finance Operations, the Finance Operations Manager will be a key player in transitioning the Finance Department to a modern, digitally enabled department focussed on streamlining processes and data capture which will support business decision making at every level. The role will also involve leading a team of finance professionals as they work towards the achievement of defined Key Performance Indicators. Scope of the role The scope of the position includes daily management of multiple teams. The role will have a number of direct reports in the form of supervisors to ensure the delivery of organisational objectives. Duties & Responsibilities Financial Management Responsible for the delivery of key financial metrics. Working with the wider finance function ensure a reporting system to provide the board with timely and accurate information on financial performance. Review and manage (and establish as needed) internal systems, controls, processes, and procedures to ensure the integrity, accuracy, compliance, and usefulness of financial information and reporting. Oversee successful completion of annual audits, filings, and other mandated / compliance reporting. Maintain the integrity and compliance of corporate governance policies and related documents. Evaluate and oversee risk management and insurance issues. Be responsible for developing, planning and implementing best practice in the Finance department. Ensure financial policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols are developed and fully implemented. Internal control: oversight of company processes and internal control. Definition and monitoring of appropriate KPIs for the function. Team Management Providing leadership, direction and management of multi-disciplinary teams. Promote good communications through effective systems and meetings across the Finance function, particularly through the development of employee participation. Inspire and lead the team members to achieve the Finance and Business strategies. Actively support professional development, skills, and experiences of all finance team members. Deliver a Best-in-Class Performance Management experience to each of your team members on a minimum 6 monthly basis with clear Annual Goals and Behavioral Targets. Mentor and coach direct reports, delegating work streams effectively and holding team members to a high standard of excellence. Foster organizational effectiveness and sustainability within the full Finance function. Foster a holistic, team-based approach to management responsibility for supervisors in the function. Strategy & Leadership Provide strategic recommendations to the Head of Finance Operations and members of the Senior Leadership Team. Contribute to the development and ongoing review of the strategic planning activity. Provide relevant financial and general business input to the formulation of such strategies. Review, maintain and develop financial policies and procedures framework which support the business and strategic objectives, consistent with overall policies and procedures. Partner with the Head of Group Finance Operations and Executive Team to foster organisational culture and values focused on equity, results, learning, and improvement. Lead the implementation and adoption of new policies, procedures and technologies aimed at improving overall financial governance. Provide strategic leadership on the use of technology to optimise business workflows. Commercial Leadership Ensure all as-is financial processes and workflows are adequately documented and described. Represent Finance throughout the business with a particular focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with the Operations and Public Office Teams. External Stakeholder Management Lead with a strong patient-first focus, ensuring all collections, and query resolution activities are managed with empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to a positive patient experience. Oversee timely and sensitive handling of patient queries and disputes, fostering clear communication and fair outcomes while maintaining financial integrity and supporting a compassionate healthcare environment. Management of key vendor relationships relating to a credit management agency, legal service providers, medical billing providers to ensure a model of best practice throughout the function. Experience in liaising with IT vendors relating to the development of scalable solutions for the business Working closing with our private insurance partners to support with the delivery of objectives. Collaborate Positive collaboration with all areas of the business, acting on pressure points and delivering the highest quality information, advisory and consultation when required. Comply Ensure full compliance as per internal guidelines (e.g. Code of Conduct, Quality and H&S) and applicable external regulations and agreements. Support internal and external audits in your department including any local JCI requirement in a timely manner. Promote the mission, vision and values of the hospital and support hospital polices & procedures in particular the culture of safety and the code of conduct. Ensure appropriate systems and processes of financial control are in place to support the maintenance of adequate records and fulfil all audit and statutory requirements Skills & Qualifications Experience Minimum 3 years of within a business of sufficient scale and complexity. Successful experience in driving performance improvement initiatives. Proven People Leadership skills. Experience in vendor management across multiple disciplines. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Strong project management skills with a record of developing and strengthening systems and processes. Healthcare background desirable. Experience in an accounts receivable or credit control background advantageous. Experience with Health Insurance providers advantageous Interpersonal skills Leadership, strong level of energy and drive to impact and deliver. A doer attitude, ability and desire to roll-up his/her sleeves and get things done, drive for result. A strong team player and manager, able to grow and inspire his/her team and beyond. High-level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel. Ability to periodically participate in meetings and events outside of core business hours.
