Overview Senior Analytics Engineer - DataCera Care Location: London NW1, UK. Schedule: Full time. Contract type: Full Time, Permanent. Industry: Engineering. The Senior Analytics Engineer will join the Data & Analytics team, working on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to build, maintain, and optimise core analytics capabilities. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, data science, and business intelligence, transforming raw data into reliable, high-quality, actionable insights to drive strategic decisions. There is also an opportunity to leverage Generative AI to optimise development workflows and accelerate data product delivery. Responsibilities Design & Develop Data Models: Design and implement robust, scalable data models within BigQuery, optimising for performance, usability, and data integrity. Build ETL/ELT Pipelines: Develop and maintain complex pipelines using BigQuery and Dataform to transform data from various sources into the analytics data warehouse. Ensure Data Quality & Governance: Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and validation processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability. Champion data governance best practices. Collaborate Cross-functionally: Work with Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Data Engineers, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions. Performance Optimisation: Identify and implement optimisations for models and pipelines to improve efficiency and reduce costs. North Star & Best Practices: Define the optimal analytics ecosystem, advocating for best practices in data modelling, SQL development, and analytics engineering. Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for data models, pipelines, and data dictionaries. Tooling & Innovation: Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance analytics capabilities. Support & Troubleshooting: Provide expert support for data-related issues in pipelines and data models. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in a data-focused role, including at least 2+ years as an Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, or similar role building analytical data products. Expert-level SQL with a proven track record of writing complex, performant queries. Strong experience with Cloud Platforms, ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery. Proficiency with Dataform (or dbt) for data transformation, testing, and documentation. Experience designing dimensional data models (e.g., Star Schema, Snowflake Schema) and knowledge of data warehousing concepts. Solid understanding of ETL/ELT principles and automated data pipelines. Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices for data pipelines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Excellent communication skills to articulate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Self-sufficient with a track record of delivering in autonomous environments.
