General Summary & Scope The Sales Manager leads the retail team to achieve sales growth, deliver exceptional guest experiences, and meet operational standards. The role oversees Beauty Advisors, Prestige Beauty Advisors, and Lead Cashiers, driving performance, people development, and process excellence.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities Performance
Promote a culture of accountability to achieve retail and service sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni‑channel, and shrink targets.
Drive profitability by identifying underperforming metrics and developing strategies that leverage company programs and tools.
Use store forecast and payroll budgets to support scheduling and communicate needs to the GM to maximize productivity.
Plan and execute in‑store events that deliver an unrivalled guest experience, drive in‑store sales, and meet payroll goals.
Review and analyze financial and operational reports, including audit results, on a regular basis.
Perform makeup applications, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations to increase sales and guest satisfaction.
Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
Maintain prompt, regular attendance as the Sales Manager and hold associates accountable to the attendance policy.
People
Attract, hire, and retain a diverse team of top talent, addressing staffing needs and open positions.
Build a highly engaged team that embodies the Ulta Beauty brand through collaboration, open communication, and prioritisation of work.
Create an inclusive environment that encourages associate growth and engagement.
Support associate professional development, including training, competency‑based feedback, coaching, performance reviews, succession planning, and development plans.
Participate in ongoing training, including brand and category education.
Ensure direct reports regularly participate in ongoing training.
Establish professional brand‑partner relationships that foster collaboration on sales and service goals.
Model teamwork and guest‑service excellence while working alongside leadership to set priorities, provide direction, and share best practices.
Execute the Guest Engagement Leader program to drive results across all annual performance goal metrics.
Process
Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
Adhere to and enforce the dress code.
Use the company scheduling tool to adjust schedules and manage attendance during manager‑on‑duty shifts.
Use the task‑management tool to prioritise and execute store workload.
Protect company assets and minimise loss by meeting all store standards and operating procedures.
Execute day‑to‑day inventory control processes and complete theft reporting as necessary.
Support continuous improvement by influencing the adoption of company initiatives and technology.
Utilise company programs, tools, and resources to drive store improvements.
Communicate and provide feedback to field leadership on business trends, opportunities, events, operational challenges, and merchandise needs.
Job Qualifications Education
Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Experience
2‑3+ years of fast‑paced retail or relevant management experience.
Financial management: driving top‑line sales, interpreting reporting data, managing payroll budgets, controlling expense.
Retail management: monitoring inventory, achieving operational excellence, driving service culture, executing merchandising directives.
Leadership: attracting, developing, and motivating top talent, adapting to change, leading teams, building collaborative relationships.
Skills
Proficient with basic technology such as POS systems, Microsoft Office, and Apple devices.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks.
Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment, and be flexible/adaptable.
Special Position Requirements
Work a flexible full‑time schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Attend corporate business meetings and conferences.
Working Conditions
Continuous mobility throughout the store during shift, including twisting.
Frequent bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, reaching, and twisting.
Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs.
Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
Compensation & Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 – $35.00 per hour, with opportunities for bonuses. Full‑time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits. Part‑time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
