About the Position As a Technical Sales Representative, you will own the full sales cycle, from identifying and developing new opportunities to managing long-term customer relationships and supporting successful post-sale execution. You will act as the primary interface between customers and internal teams, translating technical requirements into practical solutions. This is a consultative, solution-selling role suited for someone who enjoys working closely with customers, understanding their applications, and delivering value beyond the product itself. This is an on-site role based in Ridgeway, VA, and reports directly to the Managing Director. Travel of 25% is to be expected, mostly domestic.
What You’ll Be Doing More Specifically….
Identify, develop, and manage new and existing customer accounts within the mattress and furniture markets
Drive solution-based sales of pocket spring systems, emphasizing performance, customization, cost optimization, and manufacturability
Develop account strategies, sales plans, forecasts, and revenue targets
Engage with customer engineering, sourcing, and product development teams to understand application requirements
Recommend appropriate spring designs, configurations, and materials based on customer specifications and end-use performance
Support product trials, sampling, prototyping, and technical validation processes
Serve as the technical voice of the customer internally
Lead pricing discussions, contract negotiations, and commercial agreements
Ensure smooth handoff from sales to operations and maintain customer satisfaction post-sale
Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supply-chain teams
Track opportunities, pipelines, and forecasts in CRM systems
Monitor customer needs, market trends, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities
What We Expect from You
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science, industrial technology, or a related field is a plus
Min. 3 years of experience in technical sales, ideally within mattress components, furniture components, or engineered materials
Proven experience in solutions-based or consultative B2B sales
Strong understanding of manufacturing environments and technical customer requirements
Experience with pocket springs, innersprings, foam, or comfort systems is highly preferred
Familiarity with mattress and upholstered furniture manufacturing processes
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Customer-centric mindset with strong commercial acumen
Self-directed, organized, and comfortable owning a territory or portfolio
