Microsoft 365 Solutions Architect About the Role Buchanan Technologies is seeking a Microsoft 365 Solutions Architect for a client‑facing technical role focused on designing, scoping, and positioning Microsoft and Microsoft 365 solutions for mid‑market and enterprise customers.
This role will support pre‑sales efforts, technical discovery, solution design, project estimation, SOW creation, and executive‑level presentations. The ideal candidate will have deep Microsoft 365 architecture experience, strong consulting and communication skills, and the ability to translate business requirements into practical, profitable, and deliverable project solutions.
Key Responsibilities Lead technical discovery sessions with clients to understand business goals, current‑state environments, pain points, compliance requirements, security posture, and project drivers.
Design Microsoft 365 solutions across identity, collaboration, endpoint management, security, compliance, productivity, and AI enablement.
Partner with sales and account teams to shape opportunities, qualify technical fit, identify risks, and position appropriate Microsoft‑based project solutions.
Create and present project scopes, solution designs, implementation approaches, assumptions, exclusions, and level‑of‑effort estimates for SOWs and proposals.
Develop repeatable project offerings, reference architectures, delivery playbooks, discovery frameworks, and estimation models for profitable Microsoft 365 services.
Support established Microsoft 365 project offerings, including tenant assessments, tenant migrations, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, endpoint modernization, and Microsoft 365 governance.
Support modern Microsoft offerings, including Microsoft Purview, Copilot for Microsoft 365 readiness, data governance, sensitivity labeling, DLP, retention, insider risk, and secure collaboration.
Advise clients on Microsoft 365 security posture, Secure Score improvement, Zero Trust alignment, identity governance, and access control modernization.
Design practical SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive governance models, including information architecture, external sharing controls, lifecycle management, and permissions strategy.
Scope Intune and endpoint management initiatives, including device enrollment, compliance policies, configuration profiles, application deployment, Windows Autopilot, and mobile device management.
Assess Copilot readiness across licensing, identity, data exposure, permissions, information protection, and change management.
Collaborate with leadership and delivery teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically sound, properly estimated, and operationally supportable.
Review post‑project outcomes and capture feedback to improve future scoping accuracy, delivery quality, and service profitability.
Stay current on Microsoft 365 product changes, licensing considerations, security capabilities, and emerging client needs.
Required Qualifications 7+ years of experience designing or delivering Microsoft 365, Modern Work, identity, security, or endpoint solutions.
3+ years of experience in a client‑facing solution architecture, consulting, pre‑sales engineering, or technical advisory role.
Proven experience supporting sales teams through discovery, solution design, proposal input, estimating, and SOW creation.
Strong background selling, positioning, or scoping Microsoft 365 project solutions for mid‑market and enterprise customers.
Ability to accurately estimate project effort, identify delivery risks, define assumptions, and create clear implementation approaches.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in business terms.
Experience working in an MSP, consulting firm, systems integrator, or Microsoft‑focused CSP organization.
Preferred Qualifications Microsoft certifications such as MS‑102, SC‑300, SC‑100, MD‑102, MS‑900, AZ‑104, AZ‑305, or equivalent.
Experience with Copilot for Microsoft 365 readiness assessments and deployment planning.
Experience with Microsoft Purview implementation, data classification, DLP, retention, and compliance projects.
Experience with tenant‑to‑tenant migrations, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, or multi‑tenant collaboration models.
Familiarity with Microsoft Graph, PowerShell, automation, and third‑party Microsoft 365 management or migration tools.
Experience building packaged service offerings, project templates, discovery questionnaires, and delivery accelerators.
Compensation The anticipated compensation structure for this role includes base salary plus variable compensation tied to sold project work, solution quality, and strategic offering growth.
Base salary and total compensation will be determined based on experience, technical depth, client‑facing capability, and overall fit for the role.
