Dairy Supervisor

The Dairy Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Dairy Manager (or Store Management) in overseeing all dairy department operations. This role ensures product freshness, proper merchandising, inventory control, and excellent customer service while leading associates to meet sales, profitability, and operational goals.

Operational Execution
  • Oversee daily dairy department activities including stocking, rotation, and merchandising
  • Ensure all products meet freshness, quality, and dating standards
  • Maintain proper temperature control and storage conditions
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering to ensure in-stock conditions while minimizing shrink
  • Execute planograms, displays, and promotional builds
Customer Service Excellence
  • Provide exceptional customer service and product knowledge
  • Assist customers with product selection and inquiries
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally
  • Support department sales through suggestive selling and strong product presentation
Team Leadership & Development
  • Supervise, train, and support dairy associates
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback
  • Promote a positive, productive, and team-focused work environment
  • Assist with scheduling to meet operational and labor needs
Sales & Inventory Management
  • Support achievement of department sales, margin, and shrink targets
  • Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and labeling
  • Identify opportunities to improve sales, reduce waste, and increase efficiency
Food Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and company policies
  • Maintain proper handling and rotation practices (FIFO)
  • Monitor and log temperatures for refrigerated products
  • Keep department clean, organized, and audit-ready
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous grocery, dairy, or retail experience preferred
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift
  • Frequent lifting up to 40 lbs; occasional heavier lifting with assistance
  • Work in cold environments (refrigerated coolers)
