We are looking for a Backend & Integration Java Developer to maintain and evolve a core enterprise application. You will work in a diverse environment, managing integrations with other systems and contributing to the modernization of the platform.
Main Responsibilities
Maintain, debug, and improve existing backend services built mainly with Java (1.7/1.8), Spring Boot and some legacy components (EJB, Swing).
Contribute to building and monitoring reliable integrations using tools such as WebMethods, IBM MQ and SFTP file transfers.
Design and consume REST and Web APIs to connect different functional domains.
Work with Oracle 19c databases on Unix environments, focusing on queries and data‑related performance.
Take part in the gradual modernization of the platform, including moving legacy parts towards microservices and containerized environments.
Use AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT/Claude) in your daily work to speed up coding and debugging, while keeping a strong focus on code quality and security.
Collaborate with Business Analysts, internal teams and external hosting partners (e.g., DXC) to align on technical specifications and releases.

Qualifikation
Completed studies in economics or computer science or a comparable education (apprenticeship in Banking)
Good experience with Core Java (1.7/1.8) and maintaining existing codebases.
Experience with Spring Boot and Hibernate or similar frameworks.
Exposure to legacy/enterprise Java technologies such as EJB and Swing.
Experience deploying or running applications on application servers (ideally IBM WebSphere) in Unix/Solaris environments.
Experience with Oracle databases (writing efficient SQL, working with Unix‑hosted databases).
Experience with enterprise integration and middleware (e.g., WebMethods, IBM MQ, SFTP).
Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
Comfortable using Git for version control.
Interest in modernization topics: newer Java LTS versions (e.g., Java 17+), Docker/Kubernetes, microservices and modern API gateways.
Familiarity with Unix command line, simple shell scripts and application monitoring is appreciated.
Experience with AI‑Assisted Development (use AI tools to help with code generation, debugging and recurring tasks. Apply good prompt‑writing practices and understand the strengths and limits of AI coding assistants. Keep a critical eye on AI‑generated code, review it carefully and respect security / confidentiality constraints)
Solid analytical and troubleshooting abilities, especially in distributed or integrated environments.
Pragmatic mindset: able to keep production stable while contributing to the roadmap for modernization.
Clear and open communication, with the ability to work closely with different technical and functional teams and external partners.
