Job Description Summary The Senior Technical Data Analyst plays a pivotal role in enabling the bank to leverage both structured and unstructured data as trusted, enterprise information assets. Operating within the Data Management team, this role is responsible for transforming complex data – ranging from core banking systems to documents, communication, and external data sources – into actionable intelligence.
This role bridges business, analytics, and technology to deliver insights, and support governance and growth initiatives.
Advanced Data Analysis
Analyze large, complex structured data sets (example – transactions, customer, risk, finance data) alongside unstructured data (example – documents, emails, transcripts, PDF etc.).
Apply analytical techniques to extract insights, detect patterns, and identify risks or opportunities.
Support a wide variety of enterprise data use cases across AML/KYC, fraud, customer experience, regulatory reporting, and operational efficiency.
Unstructured Data Enablement
Partner with data engineering and product teams to enable ingestion, classification, and analysis of unstructured data.
Support text analytics, document parsing, metadata extraction to make unstructured data usable and governed.
Adopt defined standards for tagging, cataloging, and governing unstructured data assets.
Business Translation and Problem Structuring
Work closely with business, risk, compliance, and operations teams to translate business needs into data use cases.
Break down ambiguous problems into structured approaches.
Ensure alignment between business objectives, regulatory requirements and data solutions.
Ensure transparency and defensibility of insights derived from structured and unstructured sources.
Data Products Development and Support
Contribute to building reusable, governed, and high-quality datasets aligned to business outcomes.
Ensure data assets are documented, discoverable, and fit for purpose.
Enable cross-domain reuse of data to reduce duplication and improve consistency.
Data Governance, Lineage & Quality
Adopt enterprise data governance defined frameworks across both structured and unstructured data domains.
Identify data quality issues and partner with the data stewards and upstream teams to resolve root causes.
Support data lineage, traceability, and controls required for regulatory compliance (example – BCBS 239).
Contribute to defining and managing critical data elements (CDE), including those derived from unstructured sources.
Other tasks as needed.
Qualifications Required
7-10+ years of experience in data analysis, data management, or analytics within banking and financial services.
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative field.
Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with large scale structured data sets.
Strong understanding of database and data warehouse concepts and structures.
Experience working with unstructured data.
Proven ability to translate business problems into data solutions.
Preferred
Familiarity with NLP tools or frameworks (example – Python, NLP libraries etc).
Experience with cloud data platforms (example – Snowflake, Azure, AWS etc).
Exposure to data catalogs, metadata management, or lineage tools.
Experience working in federated or domain-oriented data model.

Compensation The estimated salary range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000, along with eligibility to earn an annual bonus. Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
