About
The engineer works closely with project managers, design engineers, and customer teams to ensure deployments meet design intent, operational requirements, and defined performance KPIs.
Key Responsibilities Site Assessment & Validation
Validate field conditions against design documentation (floor plans, rack layouts, RF designs)
Conduct site surveys, measurements, and documentation when required
Capture field updates including photos, markups, and design changes
Implementation & Deployment
Perform staging, configuration, and deployment of:
Wireless access points, controllers, and cloud‑managed WLAN systems
LAN switching infrastructure (access and distribution layers)
Execute network configurations including VLANs, routing, segmentation, and security
Support installation teams with technical direction and quality validation
Implement high availability and redundancy solutions (stacking, failover, etc.)
Network Turn‑Up & Testing
Perform system validation and commissioning of Wi‑Fi and LAN environments
Execute acceptance testing, performance validation, and system verification
Ensure solutions meet defined KPIs for performance, coverage, and reliability
Troubleshooting & Optimization
Troubleshoot wireless issues such as coverage gaps, interference, and roaming behavior
Diagnose network problems including latency, packet loss, and configuration errors
Use packet capture and RF analysis tools to isolate and resolve issues
Optimize configurations for performance, stability, and scalability
Migration & Change Execution
Execute network migrations and planned changes using defined procedures (MOPs)
Support upgrades, cutovers, and system integrations
Minimize service impact during transitions
Documentation & Reporting
Produce and maintain:
As‑built documentation and network diagrams
Test plans and validation results
Issue logs and root cause analysis reports
Provide daily progress updates and status reporting
Customer & Internal Collaboration
Act as a technical liaison with customers, internal engineering teams, and support organizations
Support escalation and issue resolution processes
Provide knowledge transfer and operational guidance to customer teams
Required Skills & Expertise Wireless & Networking
Strong knowledge of:
802.11 Wi‑Fi standards and RF fundamentals
IP routing and switching concepts
VLANs, QoS, and network segmentation
Experience with WLAN security (authentication, encryption, AAA/RADIUS)
Familiarity with controller‑based and cloud‑managed wireless architectures
Data Center & LAN
Experience with switching technologies including:
VLANs, routing, STP/MSTP, VRF
High availability and redundancy design
Understanding of structured cabling and data center environments
Tools
Packet analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark or equivalent)
RF survey and troubleshooting tools
Network validation and performance testing tools
Experience & Qualifications
5-10+ years of experience in:
Wireless network deployment and troubleshooting
LAN or data center network engineering
Proven experience with site surveys, implementation, commissioning, and optimization
Relevant certifications preferred:
CWNA or equivalent wireless certification
Vendor certifications (Ruckus, Cisco, Aruba, etc.)
