Hux Contracting is a fast-growing heavy civil and utilities contractor specializing in grading, water & sewer, storm drainage, and site-work projects across the Carolinas and Georgia. We are expanding our field leadership team and seeking an experienced Pipe Foreman to help lead our utility crews with professionalism, safety, and efficiency.
*Position Summary*
The Pipe Foreman is responsible for supervising daily field operations for underground utility installations, including water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage. This role oversees pipe crews, coordinates with project management, ensures work is completed safely and according to plans, and maintains productivity on active jobsites.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Direct and supervise pipe crews installing water, sewer, and storm drain utilities
* Read and interpret construction plans, profiles, and specifications
* Lay out pipe runs, structures, elevations, and slopes
* Ensure installations meet project design, safety standards, and quality requirements
* Coordinate material deliveries, equipment, and manpower
* Track daily quantities, deliveries, and manpower reports
* Conduct toolbox talks and enforce company and OSHA safety practices
* Communicate daily with superintendents, project managers, inspectors, and engineers
* Troubleshoot field issues proactively and maintain project timelines
* Train and mentor crew members to support growth and productivity
*Qualifications*
* 3+ years of experience installing water, sewer, and storm drainage
* 1+ years of leadership or foreman experience preferred
* City of Charlotte experience a plus
* Strong understanding of pipe installation techniques, trench safety, and grade work
* Ability to read and interpret construction plans, cut sheets, and utility profiles
* Knowledge of OSHA and industry safety standards
* Valid driver’s license; good driving record
* Strong communication and leadership skills
* Experience in storm boxes
* Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs
