About

CNA Instructor, Part Time Evening Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) seeks a qualified and experienced Registered Nurse to serve as a part-time instructor for its Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and Home Health Aide (HHA) Training Program. The instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction in accordance with all requirements established by STCC and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH). The successful candidate will prepare students for successful completion of the Massachusetts Certified Nurse Aide Certification examination while providing a supportive, learner-centered educational environment. This position plays a critical role in preparing students for entry-level healthcare careers and advancing workforce development initiatives within the community. Essential duties and responsibilities include:
Deliver classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction utilizing the approved CNA/HHA curriculum and course materials. Provide engaging lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on skills training that support student learning and competency development. Foster an inclusive, learner-centered environment that accommodates diverse learning styles and backgrounds. Assess student progress through written, practical, and clinical evaluations and provide timely feedback and remediation as needed. Ensure students develop the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors necessary for certification and employment in the healthcare field. Maintain accurate attendance, grading, skills competency, and clinical documentation in compliance with Department of Public Health regulations and College requirements. Ensure all program activities meet applicable DPH standards and regulatory requirements. Coordinate student clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and instruction during clinical rotations. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clinical affiliates and community healthcare partners. Collaborate with program staff, instructors, tutors, and Workforce Development personnel to support student success and program effectiveness. Compile, maintain, and submit required reports and grade-related information in accordance with Workforce Development and College requirements. Participate in program meetings, professional development activities, and continuous quality improvement efforts as appropriate. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements include:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse. Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing care to elderly or chronically ill individuals in a nursing home or long-term care setting. Demonstrated ability to teach, facilitate discussions, and effectively engage adult learners. Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a teacher, trainer, healthcare personnel instructor, staff educator, in-service coordinator, or direct nurse aide supervisor. Experience in lesson planning, instructional delivery, student evaluation, and remediation in a healthcare education setting; or completion of at least twenty-four (24) Board of Registration in Nursing-approved continuing education hours in curriculum development, adult learning principles, and student evaluation. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment and working effectively with diverse student, faculty, and staff populations.
Preferred qualifications include:
Teaching experience in a post-secondary, adult education, workforce development, or continuing education setting. Previous approval by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health as a Nurse Aide Training Program Instructor. Experience teaching in Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Home Health Aide (HHA), or other allied health training programs. Experience supporting students from diverse educational, cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Familiarity with workforce development programs and career pathway initiatives.
Salary: $65.00 per hour. Monday through Thursday (4:00 to 7:00 PM or 5:30 to 8:30 PM). May vary based on need and as agreed upon with the supervisor. Benefits: No.
