Location: Susanville, CA | Westwood, CA | WIC Office as needed
Reports to: Information Technology Systems Manager
Position Summary
The Desktop Support Specialist provides front-line technical support for staff across all
clinic locations. This role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting desktop systems,
laptops, printers, and other network-connected devices. The position requires efficient
problem-solving, excellent customer service, and collaboration with both internal staff and
external partners.
This role plays a key part in ensuring that all IT-related systems run efficiently, supporting
clinic operations and patient care delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
• Provide timely and courteous technical support using a help desk/ticketing system.
• Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, printers, peripherals, and software.
• Support remote access via VPN, including setup and troubleshooting.
• Upgrade and patch software, replace hardware components, and configure system
updates.
• Troubleshoot network and desktop issues; escalate complex problems when needed.
• Ensure system compatibility across applications, servers, file sharing, and
communication systems.
• Maintain professional conduct in interactions with staff, patients, and vendors.
• Maintain accurate documentation of support tasks and system configurations.
• Attend training and remain current on emerging technologies and healthcare IT
practices.
• Support user onboarding and offboarding, including access management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree preferred).
• 2+ years of experience in a desktop support or IT help desk role.
• Strong customer service skills with a proactive, self-starting attitude.• Hands-on experience with:
- Computer assembly and setup
- Windows operating systems
- VPN and remote access tools
- User lifecycle and access management
- Hardware and software troubleshooting
• Valid Driver’s License and auto liability insurance.
• Flexibility to work different shifts and travel between clinic sites.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems and healthcare-specific applications.
• Experience supporting IT in a clinical or healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and data confidentiality requirements.
