The Information Systems Division works in collaboration with programs and county agencies, to provide solutions to systems that assist families access essentials such as, but not limited to, medical services, care providers, groceries, and transportation.
Under the general direction of the Technical Services Unit's Technical Services Manager, an IT Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist II (IT Spec. II) codifies the enterprise vision, leads the solution architecture, technical development, implementation, maintenance and support of the IT project(s) within ISD. The IT Spec. II provides technical expertise in architecture, design, development, and ongoing support of the the the IT project(s) within ISD. The IT Spec. II leads staff and consultants. The primary duties of the IT Spec. II include developing and maintaining the technical architecture of the IT project(s) within ISD, operation, and maintenance of systems including user research, user-centric design, development and configuration, testing, and iterative implementation of the business application services.
Some positions at CDSS ISD are eligible for telework but majority would require in person attendance as per CDSS employment policy.

Working Conditions This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance of the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmers' markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80. Please note: Regular commute is not compensable.

Reflecting upon your experience on a complex project, where you needed to manage multiple data submissions from various sources that spanned multiple regulatory requirements, please tells us: what was the project, who were the stakeholders, what was your role, what sources of data did you need to mediate across, what was the biggest challenge, how did you develop a successful mitigation strategy for it, what was the project outcome, and what was your biggest learning.
3. CDSS's IT project has multiple stakeholders across the federal, state, county, and client levels. Reflecting upon a project that you worked on with multiple stakeholders, please tell us: what was the project, who were the stakeholders, what was your role, how did you manage communication with the stakeholders, how did you manage conflicting requirements, what was the biggest challenge, how did you mitigate it, what was the project outcome, and what was your biggest learning.
4 Many CDSS's IT projects are a multi-department Information Technology (IT) solution that improves California families' access to services by streamlining the eligibility verification process. How would you describe your experience in designing a scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud-based application, what was the biggest challenge, what was your strategy to make the solution scalable and resilient, how did you contribute in optimizing the cost-efficiency while maintaining high availability and performance?
This position is subject to fingerprinting clearance by the Department of Justice.
