THE POSITION Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and serving as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Development will provide strategic leadership for income generation, communications, advocacy and social enterprise development.
This is a pivotal senior leadership appointment with responsibility for shaping and delivering a multi-annual development strategy that will diversify and strengthen sustainable income streams while enhancing organisational profile, stakeholder engagement and long-term financial resilience.
The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team and oversee a broad portfolio encompassing individual and regular giving, corporate partnerships, community fundraising, trusts and foundations, social enterprise initiatives, communications, brand development and advocacy.
They will cultivate high-value relationships with donors, funders and partners, identify new opportunities for growth, and ensure strong alignment between income generation activities and Galway Simon Community's mission, strategic ambitions and organisational priorities.
REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate will bring significant leadership experience in fundraising, income generation, business development or a related field, together with a demonstrable track record of delivering sustainable revenue growth across multiple income streams.
They will possess strong strategic planning capabilities, commercial acumen, financial management expertise and the ability to develop and lead high-performing teams within a complex and evolving environment.
Candidates should demonstrate exceptional stakeholder engagement, relationship-building and communication skills, with the capacity to inspire confidence and influence a broad range of audiences.
Experience within the not-for-profit sector, knowledge of the Irish fundraising environment, brand and communications leadership, advocacy engagement or social enterprise development, and familiarity with customer relationship management systems and data driven decision-making will be advantageous.
A full clean driving licence and access to transport for business purposes are required.
