The Opportunity

Wajax is seeking a Manager, EHS Programs & Projects to lead the design, implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of enterprise-wide Environment, Health and Safety programs. This role supports a modern, risk-based approach to safety and sustainability by strengthening program architecture, training systems, documentation, knowledge management, audit protocols, technology enablement, critical controls, and scalable project execution.

The Role

Reporting to the VP, Safety, Sustainability & People, the Manager will provide practical, field-focused support that improves consistency, execution, risk management, and safe workplace outcomes across the business. The role works closely with EHS, Operations, Learning and Development, Human Resources, Sustainability, Facilities, Information Technology, branch leaders, customers, and contractors.

  • Design, maintain, and improve enterprise EHS programs, standards, procedures, tools, forms, and supporting documentation.
  • Establish governance for program ownership, document control, knowledge management, centralized audit protocols, implementation planning, change management, adoption, and sustainment.
  • Develop role-based training, competency frameworks, learning paths, and practical implementation tools that support successful program execution.
  • Advance EHS technology, digital workflows, dashboards, automation, analytics, mobile tools, and knowledge repositories to improve visibility and decision making.
  • Maintain critical control and high-risk work programs aligned with SIF prevention, HOP principles, STCKY hazard identification, and field execution needs.
  • Coordinate audit scheduling, status tracking, corrective action visibility, and enterprise-level trend reporting.
  • Support project safety, customer site requirements, contractor management, lessons learned, and continuous improvement.

The Candidate

  • Post-secondary education in occupational health and safety or a related discipline,
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in EHS program management, safety management systems, training development, project execution, or operational safety leadership.
  • Experience working in an industrial, equipment, field service, construction, transportation, manufacturing, or multi-branch environment is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS management systems, regulatory compliance, critical controls, high-risk work, contractor safety, project safety planning, and corrective action management.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex requirements into practical programs, tools, training, communications, and field-ready guidance.
  • Strong project management, communication, analytics, stakeholder engagement, technology, and continuous improvement skills.

This role is central to simplifying, modernizing, and strengthening how EHS programs are built, implemented, measured, and sustained. The successful candidate will help reduce administrative burden, improve consistency, support frontline execution, and contribute to a proactive safety and sustainability culture across Wajax.
