We are representing a reputable mechanical/fire protection contractor seeking an experienced General Manager to lead their residential and multifamily division. This role requires strong trade knowledge in fire protection systems and hands-on leadership across all phases of operationsincluding estimating, bidding, design, installation, materials, and field coordination. The ideal candidate is a strategic, relationship-driven leader with a background in construction management and deep understanding of wet sprinkler installation, testing, and fire protection operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full operational cycle of the division, including estimating, design, procurement, installation, and field execution
- Lead sales and production meetings, set performance goals, and align team operations with company objectives
- Manage division budgets, staffing, and forecasting while maintaining profitability and efficiency
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with builders, vendors, and clients to support ongoing and future projects
- Mentor and motivate team members to ensure high performance and accountability
- Collaborate with senior leadership on business strategy, growth initiatives, and division expansion
- Monitor field operations to ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence
- Represent the division in executive, client, and industry meetings
- Drive continuous improvement across estimating accuracy, field productivity, and client satisfaction
Qualifications:
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in fire protection, mechanical, or related construction field
- Proven leadership experience managing a division, large department, or operations team
- Strong understanding of fire protection systems, wet sprinkler installation, testing, and inspection processes
- Experience in project management, estimating, and construction scheduling
- Solid relationships within the residential and multifamily builder market preferred
- Computer proficient; familiarity with Viewpoint or similar software a plus
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, field-oriented environment with no hybrid or remote work
