Adair County Health System has an opening for a full-time Technologist on our evening shift, working 36 hours per week. This position includes 1 night of call per week, participation in every 5th weekend on-call rotation, along with a rotating holiday on-call schedule each year (including one summer and one winter holiday). In this role, you will work with a highly skilled radiology team, independently performing radiographic procedures with a high degree of technical skill and professionalism. Candidates must hold an ARRT license, Iowa Permit to Practice, Mandatory Reporting certification, and CPR certification. We offer on-the-job training in CT and DEXA. Essential functions:
Uses proper technique and positioning to obtain satisfactory radiology examinations.
Sets up and adjusts radiation protection shielding for patients and personnel as required for maximum protection. Assumes responsibility for sending digital images to PACS. Assumes responsibility for proper and efficient operation of equipment used and reports malfunctions or need for repairs to Director or designee. Is responsible to maintain a clean and well-stocked radiology department. Is responsible for computer order entry and activating orders. Assists physicians in administration of radio opaque material and surgical procedures involving fluoroscopy. Performs quality exams with portable x-ray machine.
Assists in training new staff members. Instruct patients on proper preparation for radiological, ultrasound, CT, MRI or Nuclear Med exams. Schedules patient exams in the various areas of the Radiology Department. Maintains records in a correct and orderly manner as set by the Departmental guidelines. Performs Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) procedures as designated by Department Director. Transports inpatient and outpatients to the Radiology Department. RequirementsHigh School graduate or GED required. Completion of ACR approved training program in radiographic technology. ARRT certified or arrangements in progress to take boards. Current Iowa "Permit to Practice". CEU's must be current and maintained. Computer experience necessary. Some CT experience helpful and on-site CT orientation and training are mandatory. DEXA orientation and training are mandatory and done on-site. BLS Certification.
