The target platform is predominantly MySQL on Amazon RDS/Aurora, with source data originating from disparate legacy systems.
You will be responsible for migrating and transforming data, implementing ETL processes, and supporting automated database deployments within CI/CD pipelines.
This role also includes administering existing database systems to ensure performance, availability, and reliability across production, staging, UAT, development, and test environments.
Troubleshooting, patching, performance tuning, access control and system security will be among your chief areas of responsibility.
In addition, you will support reporting solutions using tools such Amazon QuickSight, or other technologies, depending on project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Deploy and configure database environments based on predefined application specifications and schemas.
Execute full and incremental data migrations from disparate legacy systems into MySQL RDS/Aurora environments.
Develop and execute ETL processes and data pipelines to support scalable data movement and transformation.
Automate database provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including Terraform.
Integrate database deployments into CI/CD pipelines using version control tools such as Git
Validate migrated data and ensure data integrity and alignment with business requirements
Monitor database health, performance, and availability across cloud and on-prem environments
Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, including query tuning and resource optimization.
Administer existing database systems, including backup, recovery, patching, and ongoing maintenance.
Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies, ensuring alignment with RPO/RTO requirements.
Support high availability and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., RDS Multi-AZ, replication strategies)
Ensure database security, including access controls, encryption, and auditing.
Perform capacity planning and manage storage and resource utilization.
Support development and testing teams with database provisioning, query optimization, and deployments.
Deploy and maintain reporting solutions using tools such as QuickSight, BI platforms, or other reporting technologies.
Document database configurations, processes, and operational procedures to support auditability and knowledge transfer.
Participate in on‑call support and incident response as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
Experience with Amazon Aurora (MySQL‑compatible)
Experience administering multiple database platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle)
Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including Git and CI/CD frameworks
Experience integrating databases with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, OpenSearch, or similar platforms
Experience supporting reporting tools such as Amazon QuickSight, OpenSearch dashboards, or other BI technologies
Experience in cloud and hybrid (on‑prem + cloud) environments
Experience with automation and scripting (shell, Python, or similar)
Experience working in regulated environments requiring auditability and compliance
Regulatory Compliance Requirements
Must have U.S. Citizenship in order to obtain the post‑hire Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Clearance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and must be able to obtain post‑hire clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investments in the U.S. (CFIUS) and Department of Justice.
Minimum Requirements
Experience administering MySQL databases, preferably in Amazon RDS and/or Aurora environments.
Experience migrating data from heterogeneous or legacy systems into cloud database platforms.
Hands‑on experience with ETL development, data transformation, and data validation techniques.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and CI/CD pipeline integration.
Strong SQL skills across multiple database platforms (MySQL required; SQL Server and/or Oracle preferred).
Experience with database performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Experience with backup and recovery strategies, high availability, and disaster recovery implementations.
Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
Experience working in Linux and Windows based environments.
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
