Your Role on the Team Position Summary The Supervisor, Client Services is responsible for the day‑to‑day operational oversight, coordination, and supervision of Mobile Phlebotomy Services within Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. The role oversees staff and workflows related to mobile specimen collection, ensuring high‑quality patient care, service excellence, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and staff competency. The Supervisor also provides operational support for courier services as needed, and supports process improvement initiatives and strategic planning to enhance operational efficiency, service delivery, and workflow effectiveness.
The Supervisor provides direct leadership to mobile phlebotomy staff, including scheduling, workflow coordination, training, onboarding, competency assessment, coaching, and performance management. This position establishes performance expectations, monitors productivity and service metrics, and implements corrective actions and process improvements aligned with health system policies and operational goals.
The Supervisor serves as the primary operational resource for client service and mobile phlebotomy‑related issues through effective communication, issue resolution, and service recovery. The incumbent ensures adherence to specimen collection standards, patient identification protocols, specimen integrity requirements, and customer service expectations while promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
What It Takes to be Successful Required Qualifications
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Demonstrated understanding of MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Access
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Customer service skills appropriate to the job
Skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
State of California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I)
Three years applicable clinical lab work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Thorough knowledge of laboratory processing concepts, procedures, processes, and equipment
Knowledge of relevant industry, health and safety, federal, and state regulations
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with lab/hospital computer systems and software
Prior supervisory/leadership experience of at least five years
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
