Summary Director Solutions Design is a supporting leadership role aligned by either industry verticals or by design discipline and helps manage the new business pursuit team and individual opportunities. The incumbent manages a subset of pursuit team members to lead the pursuit from start to finish and transition during startup, specializing in transportation, warehousing or network design. They develop overall pursuit response strategy, mentor sub‑team members on modeling and design techniques, communicate solutions internally and to clients using analytical techniques, and support the growth of Supply Chain Solutions & Dedicated Transportation Solutions.
Essential Functions
Support the bid submission process by reviewing RFP documents, understanding objectives, developing questions to clarify gaps and developing initial hypothesis specific to a solution design that solves our customer's needs & delivers unique value.
Meet frequently with customers and cross‑functional bid response team. Support technical review presentations and design validation meetings.
Lead consulting projects that involve understanding customers’ pain‑points, developing and presenting solutions.
Data validation, cleansing, profiling, baseline development & defining scenarios to model.
Develop and improve engineering tools and methodologies to ensure industry best practices.
Additional Responsibilities
Coaching of Solution Design team to effectively lead cross‑functional teams in the design of customized supply chain solutions, and articulating the solution, value proposition and differentiators associated with each solution. Maintain & execute formal onboarding and training programs for direct reports, indirect reports, business development team (sales), and additional functional team members as needed. Employee development and succession planning.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and facilitate collaborative planning across functional teams to improve sales effectiveness. Areas of focus to include sales pursuit process, sales and solution design training, solution development, sales operations discipline, go‑to‑market planning, product development, competitive market analysis, and corporate strategy alignment.
Skills and Abilities
Superb data organization and cleansing skills.
Exhibit advanced skills and concepts using design applications, tools, techniques, and methodologies to analyze and design complex transportation and warehousing networks.
Familiarity in simulation tools, transportation & warehouse management systems, ERPs, Automation, MHE, Visibility Tools, and industry leading technologies.
Ability to influence the project teams by using facts, statistics, and analytics.
Comprehend complex supply chain and transportation solutions and segment design processes into manageable elements and process steps.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, including the ability to translate complex designs, concepts, and regulations into terms readily understood.
Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors).
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering.
Master's degree preferred in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering.
Ten (10) years or more in the Transportation industry (e.g., Truckload, Multi‑stop TL, LTL, Intermodal, Bulk, Rail, or Parcel services) required.
Ten (10) years or more in the Warehousing and/or Manufacturing industry (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Warehouse Operations, Operations) required.

Compensation Information The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long‑term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below.
