About

As an Associate Director in Software Engineering, you will provide leadership and guidance to multiple related departments, driving the strategic direction and implementation of software solutions. You will ensure that departments meet their performance objectives and deliver innovative products that enhance business operations. This role is pivotal in fostering a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Make critical decisions related to project prioritization, resource allocation, and technical approaches.
Effectively communicate in a matrixed organization with supervisors, peers, and subordinates to ensure alignment and collaboration within the organization.
Foster the development of strong and cohesive software engineering teams, encouraging collaboration and mutual support.
Establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships within the team and across departments.
Monitor development processes, framework adoption, and project surroundings to ensure adherence to modern architectural patterns and standards.
Conduct performance evaluations of team members to recognize achievements and identify areas for improvement.
Lead and manage a team of software engineers, providing guidance, direction, and motivation to achieve team goals.
Solve complex problems and provide innovative solutions to overcome technical challenges in product development.
Develop objectives and strategies for software projects in alignment with overall business objectives.
Coach and develop team members, providing opportunities for skill growth and career advancement.
Evaluate information and software products to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Estimate the resources required for projects and collaborate with other departments to meet project needs.
Skills
Product Software Engineering:
The ability to design, develop, test, and deploy software products, understanding user needs, defining functional specifications, designing system architecture, coding, debugging, and ensuring product quality. Requires knowledge of various programming languages, tools and methodologies, and ability to work within diverse teams and manage projects.
Artificial Intelligence:
The ability to deploy AI technologies within the SDLC and in customer‑facing applications, developing agents, agentic flows, guard rails, rubrics, and oversight mechanisms to monitor token and model optimization.
Cloud Computing:
The ability to utilize and manage applications, data, and services on the internet rather than on a personal computer or local server, including understanding various cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), managing resources online, and setting up cloud‑based platforms for business environments.
Frameworks:
The ability to understand, utilize, and create structured environments for software development, leveraging existing frameworks to streamline processes for better efficiency and code manageability.
Application Security:
The ability to protect applications from threats and attacks by identifying, fixing, and preventing security vulnerabilities, using software methods and systems to safeguard applications.
Architectural Patterns:
The ability to understand, analyze, and apply predefined design solutions to structural problems in architecture and software development, ensuring efficient and scalable structures that balance functional requirements and aesthetic appeal.
APIs:
The ability to design, develop, and manage Application Programming Interfaces, create and maintain high‑quality API documentation, implement API security practices, and understand API testing techniques.
Performance and Automation:
The ability to design, implement, manage, and optimise automated systems or processes, understanding both technical elements and business implications.
DevOps:
The ability to use systems and processes to coordinate between development and operations teams, improving and speeding up software development processes through automation, continuous delivery, agility, and rapid feedback.
Analysis:
The ability to examine complex situations or problems, break them into smaller parts, and understand how those parts work together.
Problem Solving:
The ability to understand a complex situation or issue, devise a solution by defining the problem, identifying potential strategies, and implementing the most effective course of action.
People Management:
The ability to lead, motivate, engage, and communicate effectively with a team, delegating, resolving conflicts, negotiating, and understanding team dynamics to build a strong culture and manage individual performance.
Agile:
The ability to respond to changes swiftly and effectively, promoting continuous improvement and flexibility in project management.
Implementation and Delivery:
The ability to translate plans and designs into action, executing strategies effectively, overseeing delivery of projects or services, and ensuring timely and efficient completion.

Compensation Estimated annual compensation:
$159,000.00 - $284,100.00 USD. This role is eligible for bonus.
