We serve both B2C and B2B customers such as non‑profits, retailers, universities, and additional brands and licensors online through company‑branded and marketplace websites. UGP’s retail and office locations across the United States support this expansive customer base.
UGP is seeking a dynamic Sales Manager who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. Availability outside regular business hours may be required to provide excellent customer support and close deals promptly. The Sales Manager will be a member of the Sales team, work alongside other Sales Managers, report to the Regional Sales Manager, and be based on‑site at our retail location in Bloomington, IN. The position is a fixed‑time schedule with responsibilities that may arise in urgent situations, even outside of normal work hours. Store and sales associates, along with relevant team members, report to the Sales Manager. Possible future career advancement includes Regional Sales Manager and National Sales Manager.
Specific responsibilities
Promote UGP’s core values; show up, work hard, be respectful and honest, strive for excellence, do what you say, and promote DEI.
Convert quotes into sales; marketing drives quotes, the Sales Manager interacts with quotes to convert them into orders.
Communicate sales, store, and personnel information to your regional manager in a timely manner.
Adhere to the Digital Code of Conduct.
Provide constructive feedback to effect change.
Participate in weekly 1‑on‑1 meetings with the Regional Sales Manager and weekly L10 meetings with the RSM and other sales managers.
Assist in coverage when other UGP team members are unavailable, which primarily involves email and phone coverage and may include travel to another UGP location.
Ensure customers receive the best experience and outcomes possible.
Engage with the local community by attending events such as Downtown Association meetings, networking groups, and chamber of commerce meetings.
Communicate with customers via phone, email, or in person to determine their needs, focusing on what the customer prefers rather than the Sales Manager’s preferences.
Propose sales and marketing tool ideas to the Regional Sales Manager.
Collaborate with the National Sales Manager and Head of Marketing to engage customers and drive sales at events and local opportunities.
Location
Responsible for the store opening and closing per the opening and closing checklists in accordance with the store hours.
Deposit money to the bank for both custom and retail in a timely, efficient manner per the Custom and Retail bank deposit procedure.
Interview, hire, train, direct, and evaluate Store Associates.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming storefront. Custom orders and retail products should be easy to find, clearly marked, and organized.
Ensure the store is open during scheduled hours and for special events.
Solve scheduling SA store hours and handle call‑offs, no‑shows, and shift changes.
Coordinate retail displays to ensure the store is optimized for retail sales, including full, stocked, and organized racks and cubbies.
Perform all supervisory tasks, including time‑card approvals, annual reviews, issue disciplinary actions, and handling time‑off requests for Store Associates.
Actively manage the store on major retail event days such as home football weekends, graduation, and large events/fairs.
Requirements
Candidate should have a degree from a four‑year college or university.
Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
Previous sales experience.
Very strong typing skills—speed and accuracy.
Highly advanced organizational skills.
Proficient with Gmail and its applications, cloud computing sites, and social media.
Prior management experience is preferred.
