The engineer works collaboratively with senior engineers to implement features, write tests, and contribute to operational excellence while developing technical skills and judgment. Delivers software solutions under guidance spanning design, implementation, testing, delivery, and operations Collaborates closely with senior engineers and seeks guidance on technical decisions Writes clean, well-tested code consistent with team standards Participates in code reviews and incorporates feedback to improve code quality Contributes to operational health by investigating incidents and escalating appropriately Applies knowledge of technical best practices under the direction of more senior engineers Minimum Qualifications
1+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR any equivalent combination of education and experience Cloud/DevOps Engineer
Job Description: Our team is dedicated to ensuring the seamless operation of all user-facing services, as well as production and development systems. We manage Venmo’s infrastructure comprehensively, encompassing operations, automation, security, compliance, and release engineering. While we are focused on Cloud Engineering, our work integrates elements of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps projects as well. On the DevOps front, we oversee CI/CD infrastructure, develop smart and secure pipelines, implement self-service secret management systems, create development environments, and establish microservices scaffolding and testing frameworks. The quality of the systems we build is paramount to the company, and we prioritize it highly. Our infrastructure must be delivered automatically, thoroughly tested, and scanned for vulnerabilities through synthetic tests. What You’ll Do
Contribute to infrastructure features and automation under guidance of senior engineers Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot incidents, and upscale as appropriate Write automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code to improve operational efficiency Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, self-service tooling, and microservices scaffolding Learn and apply best practices in cloud engineering, DevOps, and SRE Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s in computer science or related field of study 1+ years’ experience in software development or a related field Some experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) or container technologies Programming and scripting experience (Python, Bash, Go, or similar) Exposure to containers and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn Technologies: AWS, EKS, Docker, GitHub Enterprise, Terraform, GitHub Actions, DataDog, Bash, Python, Go.
