About

Manager Of Editorial Content The Manager of Editorial Content is a strategic and creative storyteller, leading the editorial function within BJC's content strategy team. With a strong brand journalism background, they will be the managing editor for BJC's content, leading the ideation and development of content across BJC channels including web, digital, newsletters, advertising, print, and social media. This person is audience‑obsessed and understands how, when, and where to tell the right story to engage audiences across various content platforms and channels. They will lead a team of writers who develop content in multiple formats to drive engagement across BJC audience segments. The role is responsible for content excellence through a comprehensive style guide to create consistent content experiences for audiences. The ideal candidate will have expertise in creative direction, multi‑media production, feature writing, and copy‑editing, and will foster cross‑functional partnerships across BJC marketing operations and content distribution teams.
Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages and evaluates performance, and conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of the group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
Leads a high‑performing team focused on scaling BJC's content engine across various and diverse channels, entities and audiences.
Cultivates collaborative and supportive relationships with content partners within MarComm, digital, marketing, operations, public relations, social media, creative services, content development, internal communication, and throughout the organization.
Identifies compelling and strategic content opportunities that support marketing objectives and calls to action, and works with creative, comms and operations teams to execute. Builds and supports editorial strategies that meet the needs of individual regions while leveraging foundational assets created to meet organizational priorities.
Manages an evergreen and agile editorial calendar that maps to business objectives, key initiatives, announcements and events; operates with swift flexibility in a dynamic news environment. Responsible for ensuring a consistent frequency and cadence of content across all forms of media through a dynamic editorial calendar that aligns with audience needs and business objectives. Possesses excellent written, editing, and verbal communication skills, is a critical thinker and problem solver, and excels at time management and prioritization.
Leads editorial strategies that optimize and complement BJC's portfolio of channels; provides guidance on best practices in editorial best practices. Develops, leads and manages editorial processes to adapt and exploit content in all appropriate media, using best practices on format, style, length, angle and other unique characteristics of each channel. Customizes content for audience segments and works directly with digital and content distribution teams to develop clear KPIs to measure content engagement and action across all BJC content properties. In collaboration with the Content Distribution and Analytics manager, understands and uses KPIs and stakeholder feedback to continuously iterate and deliver content plans and programs that achieve business objectives.
