About
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead a small team (1-3) of mechanical engineers by supporting technical and cultural development through coaching and mentoring. Ability to identify growth/leadership opportunities for direct reports
Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally to identify risks, validation or design path based on component requirements for durability and performance
Demonstrated ability and experience in providing clear technical communication to both local and global engineering and operations teams.
Serve as a technical resource for part cost methodology utilizing developed fundamental design skills and expertise in multiple manufacturing methods to provide consultation / mentorship to team and peers
Serve as contact on value engineering team to collaborate with NPD teams to identify cost reductions and support cost saving opportunities on active projects prior to launch.
Proven ability to facilitate trade-off discussions regarding design, cost, or schedule of project with large cross functional team.
Ability to review test data or testing failures to support root cause analysis with ability to identifying path(s) forward
Successful track record of executing and supporting team by performing a wide variety of calculations and software aided analyses in the following areas:
Mechanical stress analysis
Tolerance stack analysis
Material selection
Design for Manufacturing
Mechanism development and analysis
Ability to lead tool level cost investigation exercises with intent to identify cost reduction or product improvement opportunities.
Job Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics
5 years of design experience.
Minimum of 1 year of direct management experience of technical team.
Deep mechanical aptitude is required, including a broad knowledge of engineering materials, mechanical properties and an understanding of the manufacturing processes associated with these materials.
Strong proficiency in 3D CAD – ProE, SolidWorks, NX
Strong proficiency in 2D drawing creation and specification utilizing a comprehensive understanding of GD&T
Strong experience with FEA utilizing ANSYS suite
Strong Root Cause analysis background supporting project scope or testing failures
Ability to travel up to 10% (travel includes Domestic and International).
High interest in tools of the construction trades
