Role Overview Sales Engineer – Space Services The Sales Engineer will possess deep knowledge of building, launching, and operating small satellites. You will develop a strong understanding of Spire’s satellite subsystems, payload capabilities, and system interfaces to meet customer needs. This senior technical role supports business‑winning campaigns on commercial and government accounts, negotiates technical requirements, and ensures customer mission objectives are achieved. You will act as the company’s senior technical representative to international government customers and present to executive levels in high‑pressure situations.

Key Responsibilities
Lead within the team to support sales discussions with Space Services customers, assess requirements, and design optimal solutions.
Act as the primary technical point of contact for Space Services customers throughout the sales cycle.
Prepare and deliver technical presentations and reports explaining Spire’s products and services to prospective customers.
Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams and subject‑matter experts to assess feasibility of customer‑driven solutions, refine scope and technical details of complex space mission programs, and represent customer requirements within the organization.
Serve as a liaison between sales and internal engineering teams, providing routine product updates and training to the sales staff.
Lead the development of technical proposals and generate or source technical content specific to the customer’s application or problem set in a timely manner to meet deadlines and sales objectives.
Work with the sales team and product managers to identify gaps in current capabilities to drive the technology roadmap and enhance the product offering.
Support initial Space Services program execution through the System Requirements Review, providing systems engineering support to document customer requirements and ensure a seamless transition from sales to execution.
Qualifications and Experience
Extensive experience in a customer‑facing technical role.
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or equivalent technical and work experience.
Experience leading a team.
Experience presenting technical content to senior or executive level management.
Experience in satellite mission design, development, and testing with a clear understanding of major mission design trades and scope drivers.
Knowledge of satellite design and orbital simulation software such as AGI STK.
Familiarity with satellite‑based remote sensing and Earth observation techniques.
Familiarity with the radio frequency (RF) spectrum, specifically related to RF payload receivers.
Experience writing technical reports and proposals.
Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with clients and effectively communicating with cross‑functional teams.
Strong comprehension skills to enable timely understanding of complex customer requirements and identification of thorough and sometimes unique solutions.
Spire operates a hybrid work model; this position requires a minimum of three days per week in the office.
Access to US export‑controlled software and/or technology may be required. Licenses will be arranged as needed.
Compensation Base salary range: $130,500—$171,000 USD. Final base salary will depend on location, skills, experience, and qualifications. Additional compensation may include annual equity awards and the full Spire employee benefits program, which includes vacation, sick and personal time off, optional medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage, a 401(K) plan, health and wellness reimbursement, and participation in Spire’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
