About

We are seeking a talented and versatile hardware engineer to contribute to the research, development and maintenance of our next generation image acquisition system by using the latest image sensors or state‑of‑the‑art camera products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hardware engineering, practical projects experience in building multi‑camera rigs, coupled with proficiency in software development, to design, implement, and optimize integrated systems for virtual production environments. Key Responsibilities
Research, design and develop multi‑camera data acquisition system Familiar with the image sensor terminologies and data transfer protocol Design and develop multi‑camera rig to be deployed with latest volumetric capture and Gaussian splatting technologies Familiar with inter‑camera synchronization terminologies such as TTL, GenLock, PTP and Timecode Familiar with industry standard communication protocols such as LVDS, UART, SPI, I²C, CRC Write low‑level programming using C to drive microcontrollers Design and implement the popular computer interface protocol for data transfer Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend and implement improvements Software development for camera rig control, data transfer and performance analysis Design and develop camera control software (web‑based, Python or C++), providing user‑friendly UI for operators to control the camera rigs Design and develop data transfer protocol, harvest mechanism and injection pipeline Quick turn‑around is a high priority to enable the camera rigs’ bandwidth Design and develop a system monitor to detect and report the status of the camera rig, and provide a solution for efficient troubleshooting System integration, maintenance and support: work efficiently and effectively with the other team to integrate the image rig to other stage system components Provide technical support for the operation and maintenance of the camera rigs Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware and software components in a timely manner Flexible in utilizing available industry trends and emerging technologies to support stages’ project needs Qualifications
Master’s degree in Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field Proven experience in PCB design and proficiency with CAD software, Altium preferred Strong programming skills in Python and C++, with experience in developing control systems for image acquisition and harvest applications Deep knowledge in camera technologies Familiar with different technique categories such as rolling shutter vs globe shutter, on‑board vs off‑board data storage, image data compression Familiarity with 3D print and modeling is a strong plus $150,000 - $200,000 USD a year. This salary range is specific to applicants applying to our position in Los Angeles, CA, USA. To determine your base salary, we consider your qualifications, skills, and experience.
