AVP, Software Engineering – Security & Infrastructure (S\&I) leads enterprise security and infrastructure strategy, portfolio management, and transformation delivery. The role aligns technology and security investments with business priorities, drives AI-enabled delivery, and advances DevSecOps maturity. Job Summary
Provide strategic direction and executive oversight of Software Development Services (SDS). Enable implementation of Nationwide Technology Strategy and yearly objectives. Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and operational management. Maintain strong customer relationships with CIO Offices, BSA leaders, and ECIO executives. Collaborate with peers in SDS, Program, and Application Services (PAS) offices. Participate in Nationwide IT initiatives to support strategies and continuous improvement. Core Responsibilities
Deliver software efficiently using best practices for software engineering and industry standards. Partner with delivery roles to measure progress and improve speed, quality, and productivity. Govern best practice adoption with BSA leaders, Project Delivery Services, Requirements and Testing Services, and other stakeholders. Leverage requirements flow, software design, Agile and DevOps principles to enhance delivery. Act as a thought leader within Technology and foster relationships across Nationwide Technology. Drive continuous improvement in software development capabilities. Manage personnel administration, including hiring, training, supervising, and promoting staff. Qualifications
College degree preferred; 10+ years of Information Systems leadership experience. Technical and managerial experience with Lean, Agile, and DevOps in enterprise-scale development. Knowledge of infrastructure is a definite differentiator. Demonstrated relationship management, leadership, and mentoring skills. Experience overseeing third‑party vendor solutions and managing large, complex projects. Strong information security and project management capabilities, including risk analysis and mitigation. Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, facilitation, negotiation, and presentation). Job Conditions
Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt). Working Conditions: Normal office environment with occasional travel. ADA: Principal and essential functions are described; some duties may be varied based on needs. Benefits
