About
Description You will be responsible for the design specification, bring up, validation and deployment of automated instrumentation to calibrate and test Apple’s products through NPI and mass production.
Responsibilities
Architect instrumentation systems (including HW specification) and maintain those systems through production.
Work with our mechanical engineering team to specify and validate the required mechanical fixtures & automation systems.
Develop, debug, and optimize automation software.
Implement advanced signal processing and ML algorithms to evaluate performance of systems.
Analyze large amounts of data generated from your instrument systems and adopt data‑driven approaches to solving engineering challenges.
Perform failure mode root cause analysis and resolution, debugging from the system level down to the component level.
Work closely with Apple Acoustics/N&V, system EE, product design, firmware, operations, and logistics teams.
Frequent interactions with contract manufacturers/vendors; developing SOPs, debug instructions, and documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
BS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or related discipline
2+ years professional experience (or equivalent) in design, development, debug, validation and working with electro‑mechanical systems
Basic understanding of hardware concepts and EE fundamentals (i.e. HW architecture, Control System, Signal processing etc.)
Programming skills in one or more of the following: C/C++/Objective‑C, Python, Lua
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of consumer electronics modules like sensors (light/force/pressure/touch/motion) and/or acoustics (speaker/microphone).
Experience with digital signal processing (DSP).
Understanding of test principles, GRR, experience with test automation and optimization.
Experience in high volume consumer electronics manufacturing.
Experience analyzing, processing, plotting, and mining large data sets.
Understanding of test principles, GRR, experience with test automation and optimization.
Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to manage many priorities across multiple disciplines.
Experience or deep understanding of AI/ML modeling.
Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to handle many priorities across teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Domestic and international travel may be required (up to 10%).
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $134,800 and $245,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
