Role Description This is a part-time, commission-based hybrid role located in Indianapolis, IN, with a mix of on-site customer visits and some work from home for follow-ups and administrative tasks. The Commission Sales Associate will engage residential and commercial customers, assess their lighting and audio needs, and recommend suitable products and system designs. Day-to-day work includes generating and qualifying leads, conducting product demonstrations, preparing quotes and proposals, and following up to close sales. The role also involves coordinating with the design and installation teams, tracking orders, and ensuring timely and accurate communication with customers throughout the sales process. The associate will maintain product knowledge on lighting and audio solutions, stay current on promotions, and use CRM or similar tools to manage the sales pipeline.
Qualifications
Proven sales abilities, including prospecting, lead qualification, relationship building, and closing commission-based sales.
Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in clear, accessible language.
Interest in or experience with lighting, audio, and smart home technologies, including interior/exterior fixtures and residential or commercial systems.
Basic technical aptitude to learn product specifications, read simple layouts, and collaborate effectively with installers and designers.
Self-motivated and organized, with reliable time management skills to balance in-person, hybrid, and remote work responsibilities.
Comfort using computers and basic software tools (email, spreadsheets, CRM or sales tracking systems).
Previous experience in retail, showroom, or B2C/B2B sales is preferred; experience in lighting, audio, or home improvement is a plus.
