Location: Berkeley, CA
Responsibilities
Develop complete 3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks for fire suppression systems deployed within BESS installations.
Create harness routing and integration solutions for:
Harness pass‑throughs within enclosures
Internal harness mounting provisions
Off‑the‑shelf HVAC system interfaces
Actuated valves and release modules
Temperature detectors, horns, and manual release assemblies
Develop complete 3D harness definitions and associated manufacturing documentation.
Ensure proper packaging, serviceability, and manufacturability of harness designs.
Participate in design reviews and technical discussions with cross‑functional teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related technical discipline.
3+ years of experience designing electrical wire harnesses for industrial equipment, energy systems, automotive, aerospace, or heavy equipment applications.
Proficiency using Zuken harness design software.
Experience creating:
Harness schematics
Harness drawings
Connector definitions
Bill of materials
Manufacturing documentation
Experience with harness routing, packaging, and integration into mechanical assemblies.
Familiarity with connectors, terminals, backshells, cable protection, and harness retention methods.
Ability to interpret and create engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), renewable energy, power electronics, or industrial control systems.
Experience with fire suppression systems, detection systems, or safety‑critical electrical systems.
Experience with:
SolidWorks Electrical
ECAD‑MCAD integration
3D harness modeling
Knowledge of low‑voltage power distribution and control systems.
Familiarity with environmental and regulatory requirements for outdoor electrical systems.
Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
Experience supporting products from concept through production release.
Salary Range
$100,000–120,000
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job‑related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
