Job Description Kratos is seeking an Associate Software Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO. The position will support dynamic, agile projects implementing firmware designs across all phases of the development lifecycle, including design, development, test, and operational support/user feedback. The ideal candidate will work independently and as part of a team on the design, implementation, and maintenance/troubleshooting of new and existing software solutions.
Responsibilities
Support multiple projects concurrently, bringing expertise to primary and secondary projects.
Design, develop, test, and provide operational support for firmware solutions.
Communicate status and progress of design efforts with team members, customers, and vendor support.
Identify and troubleshoot critical issues and challenges across projects.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
Experience: 1–4 years of professional software development experience.
Core Coding: Solid grasp of C/C++ and Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
Environments: Experience working in Linux or Windows environments, specifically using Visual Studio.
Networking & Web: Basic understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) and exposure to GUI development (HTML5, JavaScript, or C#).
Tools: Familiarity with scripting (Python), version control (Git/BitBucket), and Agile workflows.
Soft Skills: Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with hardware and firmware teams.
Mindset: Proactive learner who takes ownership of tasks and can estimate workload.
Security: Must be a US citizen with ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Preferred Skills And Experience
Software driver development.
Experience with non‑volatile storage technologies such as EEPROM, NVRAM, and ROM.
Network, multi‑threaded, client‑server programming and embedded system development experience.
Docker/Container & Kubernetes design and implementation knowledge for on‑premise and cloud environments.
Experience interfacing/integrating with firmware‑based FPGAs.
Ability to work directly with customers.
Salary Range Competitive salary based on experience and education. Salary Range: $100,000 – $120,000
