About
Responsibilities
Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance evaluation for Design Engineers, ensuring effective workload planning, task assignment, schedule oversight, and delivery of high‑quality, compliant engineering products.
Lead team meetings and support employee growth through coaching, training, hiring participation, and performance reviews, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance of technical and specification documents with contractual, government, and program standards.
Prepare, review, and deliver technical papers, reports, and engineering studies.
Conduct field inspections, site visits, and investigations to diagnose engineering issues and recommend corrective actions or alternative solutions.
Apply ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, NASA, and KSC codes, standards, and guidelines in engineering work and technical reviews.
Coordinate effectively across engineering disciplines, NASA customers, contractors, technicians, project managers, CAD teams, and program leadership through clear written and verbal communication.
Maintain Design Engineer readiness by ensuring required training, certifications, procedural accuracy, and adherence to recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices and site safety standards.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational objectives.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related scientific field and at least 5 years of job‑related experience, or equivalent. Good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. Position may require travel and the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Must successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). U.S. citizenship is required for restricted area access.
Preferred Qualifications Local candidates. No relocation allowance provided. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program. Professional Engineering (PE) license.
Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands Most positions involve work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, and the ability to work under deadlines. Some positions involve work in environments (e.g., shipboard, labs, outdoors) where mechanical equipment is installed, tested, analyzed/monitored, operated, or maintained. Equipment may be loud or noisy or have exposed moving components. These positions may involve routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling, and carrying, and require continuous use of vision and mental alertness.
Additional Responsibilities Safety—Amentum enforces a safety culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment. As appropriate, each employee is responsible for completing all training requirements and fulfilling all self‑aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response tasks and serving on safety committees and teams.

Compensation Details $120,000
