Pay Range: $35/hr.+ DOE
REMOTE WORKING : Onsite 80-90% / Remote 10-20% (Depending on Level)
TRAVEL : Up to 25% (domestically and internationally)
POSITION SUMMARY The Applications Engineer is responsible for the technical leadership of product support for all Inspection and e‑Beam tools sales activities. The AE performs a variety of duties including product development activities, interfacing with design engineers, writing technical papers related to Inspection and/or e‑Beam toolsets, conducting technical presentations, conducting demonstrations, performing advanced applications support, and delivering training to customers and other Engineers. Part of the AE’s job requires travel to customer sites in order to support tool installations, conduct acceptance tests, and provide general applications support. The AE will use judgment and initiative to work on projects to improve overall toolset technical capabilities, productivity, and efficiency.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical product support for all Inspection and/or e‑Beam tools sales activities
Provide applications support for customers through recipe automation audits
Provide technical advice to marketing for sales and trade shows
Review of training and demonstration materials for technical accuracy
Evaluates design, HW/SW and Applications of systems and products based on Optical and/or e‑Beam technology
Interacts with HW/SW design teams to assist in overall development of the systems by specifying, selecting, and qualifying system requirements and system performance models, developing, and implementing procedures and/or evaluating and selecting appropriate applications to suit customer needs
Works with design teams to complete system or product frameworks, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility, system interfaces and applications
Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system design weaknesses. Influences the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provides multi‑layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives.
Coordinates design requirement reviews with appropriate engineering/scientific personnel to ensure product compliance to customer requirements.
Provides multi‑discipline support to customers by resolving technical issues associated with SW and HW of Optical and/or e‑Beam products or systems, testing of new and existing designs and documentation of changes through a formal engineering change notification process
Manages the development and implementation process of a company’s products and services at customer sites including delivering new or upgrading existing products, reviewing processing techniques and methods applied in the use and evaluation of the products
Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for system specifications
May conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts, equipment automation technology, and approaches in the processing or development of new or improved processes
May provide recommendations for cost reduction efforts
May apply quantitative analysis in determining root cause of highly technical problems and propose, develop, and implement solutions for corrective action
Maintain appropriate records of all work and automation audits performed
Manage and maintain traveling inventory according to department policy, procedure, and/or practice
Protect and maintain company property (i.e., traveling inventory, company issued items, test equipment, tools, etc.)
Set and keep appropriate schedules for training on the assigned customer site
Create, update, and provide highly detailed documentation for the purpose of customer and/or internal training
Must have and retain valid driver’s license in resident state and be insurable
Must be eligible for and receive company credit card
Comply and adhere to company policies
Portray professionalism and pride in appearance while conforming to policy
Provide a positive attitude to all employees and customers
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION, LICENSES, and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
BS degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
EXPERIENCE and TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Four (4) years of semiconductor industry experience
Hands on experience with Hitachi e‑Beam tools (such as CD-SEM and/or DR-SEM) strongly preferred
General understanding of equipment electronics
Computer knowledge and networking experience
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Travel on average of 25%
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and/or ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Ability to interface with customers, service department personnel and others
Strong work ethic. (i.e., on time to work and training, on time completion of assignments, strong preparation for assignments, effective teamwork, etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with management, co‑workers, internal and external customers
Ability to communicate information to customers and manager regarding all activities and schedules
Ability to work with no instructions
Ability to work on assignments that are complex utilizing considerable judgment and initiative
Ability to effectively conduct advanced customer training
Ability to give training classes or on the job training (OJT) on complex system theory to engineers and customers
Ability to transfer technical knowledge to less experienced engineers through OJT or classroom training
Ability to work independently with no supervision
Ability to complete complex problems successfully
Ability to use considerable judgment in resolving problems and making recommendations
Ability to assist engineers with problems they encounter in the field
