Your Impact The Project Design Engineer serves as the bridge between client needs and actionable engineering blueprints for industrial systems. You will take ownership of the design phase, ensuring that every project is safe, budget-conscious, and ready for seamless manufacturing and installation. By partnering with Sales, Operations, Fabrication, and Service departments, you will guide projects from the initial proposal stage through to final startup, acting as the primary technical authority throughout the project lifecycle.
Project & System Design
Construct comprehensive mechanical and system schematics for industrial equipment.
Utilize SolidWorks or similar CAD platforms to generate and oversee engineering drawings, bills of materials, and specifications.
Help ensure all designs meet internal quality benchmarks, safety protocols, and industry codes.
Develop designs that optimize manufacturing ease, serviceability, and cost-efficiency.
Sales & Proposal Support
Contribute technical expertise during the development of proposals and client consultations.
Support the creation of budgetary designs, scope definitions, and conceptual layouts.
Engage in technical reviews, site visits, and client meetings as necessary.
Cross-Functional Execution
Partner with Scheduling and Project Management to facilitate a smooth transition from design to commissioning and installation.
Work alongside production teams to guarantee that designs are practical and ready for implementation.
Deliver technical guidance during troubleshooting, startup, and installation phases.
Documentation & Change Management
Manage engineering records, revision control, and project documentation.
Assess the impact of design modifications on technical performance, budget, and timelines.
Provide clear communication regarding design updates to all relevant stakeholders.
Technical Support & Continuous Improvement
Support root-cause analysis and troubleshooting for field and project-related challenges.
Help drive operational efficiency by identifying opportunities for design improvements and standardization.
Foster a culture of shared knowledge by documenting best practices across the team.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Champion safe engineering practices across all project phases.
Ensure that all designs adhere to company quality requirements and relevant regulatory standards.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Three to seven years of experience in equipment, mechanical, or industrial systems design.
Background in capital projects, manufacturing operations, or engineered-to-order products.
Availability for travel as needed, typically ranging from 20% to 40%.
Technical Knowledge
Proficiency in using CAD or SolidWorks design software.
Deep understanding of industrial operations and mechanical equipment design.
Practical knowledge of field installation and manufacturing workflows.
Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards.
Communication & Collaboration
Ability to translate complex technical concepts for both internal teams and customers.
Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective cross-functional teamwork.
Capacity to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to interpret complex technical specifications, drawings, and data.
Sound judgment when balancing performance, schedule, and cost trade-offs.
Technology & Tools
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Experience with document control systems, project management software, or ERP platforms is a plus.
Other Requirements
Valid driver’s license with an insurable record.
Ability to travel to project and customer sites.
Ability to maintain safety standards in industrial, construction, and manufacturing settings.
