General Purpose Join Our Team as an IT Systems Engineer – Public Safety! You will utilize your systems engineering skills to support our community’s critical public services and infrastructure, including public safety, courts, city management and more. The City of Commerce City seeks a dynamic IT Systems Engineer to serve as a trusted technology partner to our public safety and courts divisions.
IT Systems Engineer – Public Safety The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for the overall technical support, configuration, maintenance, and administration of assigned applications and platforms for the Commerce City Police Department and Courts divisions. The role provides primary and subject matter expertise, identifies technology needs, gathers business and technical requirements, evaluates current and future technologies, and manages technical projects.
Hiring Salary The hiring range is $104,554.45 – $116,171.61, dependent upon experience.

Paid Time‑off Benefits
Holidays: 12 paid holidays each year with an 8‑hour Floating Holiday and an additional Floating Holiday earned by participating in the Wellness Program.
General Leave: Employees receive a General Leave bank when they are hired, prorated based on their start date. General leave can be used for vacation, sick time, personal needs, caregiving, school activities, holidays not observed by the City, and other approved reasons in line with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act.
Other Paid Time Off: Jury Duty, Injury Leave, and Military Leave are also available to employees.
Additional Benefits
Employee Assistance Program (EAP): We provide a confidential Employee Assistance Program with eight private counseling sessions available on a range of needs including marital issues, parenting concerns, grief counseling, supervisor issues, and drug and alcohol abuse.
Tuition Reimbursement: The City provides a tuition reimbursement program that reimburses qualified educational expenses.
Eligibility for Pay Increases: Employees are eligible for a pay increase during their annual appraisal following a successful evaluation. Pay increases do not come at the time of the six‑month introductory evaluation.
Personal Computer Employee Purchase Program: To encourage development of employee computer skills, the City offers an interest‑free loan for the purchase of computer hardware (including a desktop or laptop) and software. The employee must have successfully completed their 6‑month Introductory Period for eligibility.
Recreation Center Membership: Employees and family members are eligible for a membership to the Commerce City Recreation Center for $5.00 per person per year.
Golf Course Green Fees: Employees can play the City’s award‑winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9‑holes or $18.00 for 18‑holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, technology management, or a related field and five years of progressively responsible experience are required. Candidates must complete and pass a CJIS background investigation prior to employment and obtain CJIS certification within 30 days of starting employment. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
