The Role and Impact CPU Microcode Team within Intel’s Silicon & Platform Engineering organization is seeking talented engineers with a passion for x86 architecture, microarchitecture, and low‑level firmware development. As a CPU Microcode Design Engineer, you will design, implement, and optimize microcode features for Intel’s next‑generation CPU microprocessors. You will work in a highly collaborative, fast‑paced environment where innovation and curiosity drive every decision. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the performance, reliability, and capability of Intel CPUs used worldwide.
Responsibilities
Develop and optimize microcode to enable efficient execution of processor instructions.
Participate in the definition of microcode architecture, partnering with processor architects to design instructions that enhance performance and functionality.
Collaborate with processor architects and design engineers to integrate microcode seamlessly into processor architecture.
Conduct performance analysis to ensure reliability and effectiveness of microcode under various operating conditions and workloads.
Identify opportunities for innovation and enhancement of microcode solutions to address processor performance and design constraints.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 3 years of experience or a Master’s in the same fields with 6 months of educational or work experience.
Firmware development in CPU microcode.
Computer Architecture and/or Micro Architecture techniques.
RTL logic design using Verilog and debug using industry standard tools.
Linux shell, Perl, or Python scripting.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience simulator development using C x86 assembly programming.
CPU architecture/assembly.
Experience with performance analysis tools and techniques.

Benefits We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive pay, stock bonuses, and benefit programs which include health, retirement, and vacation. Annual Salary Range for US: $105,650.00 – $200,340.00 USD. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors such as job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
