About

Position Description Q CELLS Home Energy Solutions seeks a Design Engineer to generate solar blueprints with specialized expertise in the Home Energy System division. As a Design Engineer, you will also oversee ensuring the scope of work is accurate via both a thorough account review and production modeling adjustments as needed. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with strong analytical skills, great attention to detail, and problem solving and communication skills. The position will be based out of our office in Irvine, CA, with an in‑office schedule that is set at the direct manager’s discretion in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Create and submit Drafting package for third party Auto Cad drafters.
Become a subject matter expert on the Qcells Q.Home battery system, Q home modules, and pairings with other product offerings for residential applications.
Perform quality reviews on completed design packages.
Confirm scope of work and generate work orders for construction.
Compare the scope of work against the signed agreement and ensure project was sold with the appropriate adders.
Analyze data to understand most common design failures and provide feedback to design vendors on areas for improvement.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with a minimum of 5‑8+ years of experience in an engineering role, including 3‑5 years’ experience in solar system design and engineering.
Experience with AutoCAD.
Strong understanding of NEC and CRC code.
Experience with permitting processes with local authorities having jurisdiction.
Impeccable attention to detail.
Ability to exercise strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills.
Detailed, analytical thinker with the ability to recruit and lead quantitative talent.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present credit management, vision and strategy in internal and external forums.
Entrepreneurial mindset and demonstrated ability to thrive in a high‑growth environment.
Process driven while finding long‑term solutions.
