We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance & Reliability Manager to lead and elevate maintenance and reliability performance within a capital-intensive, heavy manufacturing environment. This is a strategic, engineering-focused leadership role responsible for driving equipment reliability, advancing a best-in-class Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program, and implementing data-driven reliability initiatives.

This role goes beyond traditional maintenance management, requiring a leader who can analyze systems, optimize asset performance, and build a proactive reliability culture. The ideal candidate will bring a strong engineering foundation, deep experience with reliability practices, and the ability to lead both people and programs at a high level.

The Maintenance & Reliability Manager will oversee preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance strategies, reduce downtime and production losses, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across multiple sites. This position manages approximately 16 direct reports and balances technical leadership (40%) with strategic and people leadership (60%).

We are seeking candidates with deep experience in heavy manufacturing environments and a strong background in reliability engineering and maintenance program development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of maintenance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, reliability, and continuous improvement
  • Own and advance the site's reliability strategy, including preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs
  • Design and implement scalable maintenance and reliability systems, ensuring consistency across multiple plants
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) to eliminate recurring failures
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to improve asset utilization, uptime, and operational efficiency
  • Analyze equipment performance data and maintenance metrics to identify trends and drive proactive solutions
  • Lead the evolution of the CMMS (MaintainX) as a reliability and planning tool, including asset data integrity, work order optimization, and spares strategy
  • Develop and manage a critical spares and asset strategy aligned with reliability goals and risk mitigation
  • Support capital projects with a focus on equipment reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle cost optimization
  • Champion initiatives such as TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement programs, including Gemba walks and Kaizen events
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies
  • Lead and execute reliability-focused projects, including system upgrades, automation improvements, and predictive technologies
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field strongly preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in maintenance, reliability engineering, or asset management within heavy manufacturing environments
  • Demonstrated success in building or leading reliability programsnot just maintenance execution
  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing maintenance or reliability teams
  • Strong expertise in predictive maintenance technologies, reliability tools, and failure analysis methodologies (RCA, FMEA, RCM)
  • Experience implementing or advancing TPM or reliability-centered maintenance frameworks
  • Proven ability to use data and analytics to drive decision-making and performance improvement
  • Experience with CMMS systems (MaintainX preferred) with a focus on system optimization and data integrity
  • Strong technical acumen with knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Financial acumen related to maintenance cost optimization and capital planning
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with PLCs, AutoCAD, or ERP systems is a plus

Work Environment
  • Combination of office and manufacturing environments
  • Manufacturing conditions may include exposure to loud noise, extreme temperatures, dust/pigment, hazardous gases, and moving machinery
  • Required use of PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toe/composite boots, and hearing protection
