Project Manager

With little or no direction, the Project Manager performs project management activities for complex, high-profile programs and projects. Projects will be managed in a hybrid environment where managing cross-committed teams and interdependencies is key. Having experience in waterfall and agile methodologies is helpful. Throughout the delivery lifecycle, the Project Manager collaborates with multiple business units to prioritize initiatives and be the one point of contact on progress, dependencies, risk/issues and road mapping. Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management and client services, familiarity with basic software development practices, and a desire to work in a highly collaborative, open, and dynamic environment.

Job Duties:

  • Takes projects from original concept through final implementation. Interfaces with and tracks all areas affected by the scope of the project, including business users, and vendors.
  • Develops and tracks budgets and financial cost forecasts to support the objectives of the project.
  • Defines project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organizes and leads project status and working meetings; prepares and distributes progress reports; manages risks and issues; corrects deviations from plans; and performs delivery planning for assigned projects.
  • Assists in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leverages organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; mentors and develops team members.
  • Supports product owners in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance.
  • Defines and manages a well-defined project management process and champions ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for project management.
  • Promotes empowerment of the team, ensures that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution, and encourages a sustainable pace with high levels of quality for the team.

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager.
  • Experience with Business process reengineering/optimization and/or Organizational change management.
  • Excellent communication skills and a can-do attitude.
  • Executive presence and experience presenting to a C-level audience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading very large enterprise projects.
  • Ability to hold team members accountable, set clear sprint performance standards, resolve issues, keep team engaged and on task.
  • Delegate project tasks to vendors, SMEs and ensure delivery to milestone activities.
  • Create and monitor project plan deliverables and tasks; track project financials and budget; monitor change control requests, defects, and enhancements.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
  • Experience overseeing multi-function project teams, including developers, business analysts, and QA personnel.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of business needs with the ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence.
  • Very effective interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands.
  • Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while keeping in mind the big picture.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, processes, and tools of project management.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Certification PMP, CPM.
  • Experience with Agile methodology.
  • Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly credible leadership to development teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues.
  • Ability to provide leadership to business analysts and collaborate with customers and develop strategies and solutions of high business value.
  • Strong and current awareness of external trends and best practices.
  • Experience with large initiatives that required organizational change management skills regarding the rollout and adoption of a projects outcome.
  • Knowledge of product development methodologies, managing product launches or project management, specifically supporting a product and services department.
