Job Purpose You’ll lead the design of the England and Wales electricity transmission system, ensuring optimum system design on NGET’s network. Your role involves supporting compliance assessments to ensure customers can connect to the transmission network and maintaining integrity and safety for all infrastructure and connection developments.
Responsibilities
Lead power system modelling and system studies including load flow, fault level, harmonic analysis and EMT analysis or control interaction studies.
Ensure compliance with relevant standards and industry codes such as SQSS, CUSC and the Grid Code.
Apply power system fundamentals and studies to guide network design and optimisation.
Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of power systems, analysis and modelling.
Experience in Power Factor/OLTA study analysis to identify network compliance issues.
Critical thinking and complex problem solving in power system analysis and design.
Knowledge of industry codes and standards (SQSS, CUSC, Grid Code).
Solid foundation in power system theory and its application to electricity networks.
Ability to produce clear technical scopes that lead to defined strategic outcomes.
Experience
Skilled in using RMS or EMT simulation tools (e.g., DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD).
Experience in the application of power electronics‑based devices (HVDC, FACTS, wind farm).
Ability to deliver technical presentations and written reports.
Experience in the power industry, consultancy or manufacturing is advantageous.
Familiarity with model technical support, scripting (Python or DPL), and data assurance.
Benefits
Competitive salary £47,000 – £75,000, depending on capability and level.
