As a QA Manager at Bitwarden, you will lead the quality efforts that guide the future of the Bitwarden product across mobile, web, and server components. You will evaluate the demands of future roadmap and product delivery needs against resources, capacity, and velocity of the QA team, facilitate career growth for direct reports, and foster professional development. You will own the total quality process, contribute directly to the culture of quality through hands‑on testing, process improvements, departmental outreach, and mentoring. This person will hire, manage, and grow a cross‑functional team of quality engineers focused on support, product development, automation, and performance testing, secure cross‑department resources, manage trade‑offs for delivery, keep stakeholders accountable, meet deadlines, communicate at the executive level on project status and risk, and measure team impact and needs.
Responsibilities
Hire and develop our team of cross‑functional QA Engineers
Set and report on measurable goals and objectives for the team
Set weekly or daily priorities for the QA team and individual team members
With feedback from the team, leadership and external stakeholders, own the quality process, procedures and decision support for product development and delivery
Evaluate, recommend, and implement testing tools to help facilitate team success
Provide a point of technical escalation and knowledge to help resolve issues and technical hurdles the team may encounter
Facilitate and encourage collaboration through team meetings or other communication channels as necessary as well as conduct team‑building activities
Report on team progress, status and roadblocks to management from the QA lens
Advocate for and on behalf of the QA team and the total quality management of Bitwarden’s product, process and organization
Conduct one‑on‑one meetings with direct reports to work on issues, provide and receive feedback and discuss individual professional development goals and opportunities
Perform annual or semi‑annual performance reviews when required
Perform hands on testing and support when necessary
Participate in code reviews, learning and spreading technical knowledge
Actively participate in backlog grooming, planning and delivery activities
Help maintain or review automated tests within one or more industry proven automated test frameworks for testing mobile, desktop and web applications as well as RESTful APIs
Become an expert and authority on the entire Bitwarden product, including: backend infrastructure, APIs, database, web app, mobile apps, browser extensions, desktop apps, and more
Qualifications

Management or team lead experience from a previous technical position

Experience in testing a SaaS consumer and/or enterprise product
Experience in lean or agile development and delivery
Experience testing mobile and cross‑platform/browser applications
Excitement and enthusiasm for helping customers solve security and password challenges
Zeal for learning and desire to develop yours, your peers’, and your team’s skills in automation and quality processes
Preferred
User of Bitwarden
Startup experience
Open source experience
Mobile apps testing experience
Experience in one or more automated test frameworks (e.g. Selenium, Cucumber, Appium, Robot Framework, BrowserStack, etc.)
Proficiency using source control such as Git, SVN, Subversion, TFS, etc.
Hands‑on development experience
Descriptive Programming experience with Selenium
In the United States, the starting base compensation range for this role is $130,000 - $190,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, relevant experience, and skill set as assessed in the interview process, as well as market data by location. See our careers page for a list of benefits.
