About

Join the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) as a Geospatial Data Analyst. Your work will support Medicaid and CHIP programs by conducting advanced geospatial research and analysis, providing insights to enhance provider network quality and program performance.
Salary Range: $6,377.50 - $8,581.66 per month

Essential Job Functions
EJF 1:
Design and conduct advanced geospatial research and analysis specific to Medicaid and CHIP, including spatial distribution, provider network adequacy, compliance evaluation, trend detection, and program change assessment.
EJF 2:
Develop methodologies and process solutions for provider data requests, manipulate data with SQL, Python, or other languages, clean and prepare data for visualization or software products, and create or support ArcGIS visualizations or web apps.
EJF 3:
Engage with agency stakeholders, communicate complex analyses in clear language, coordinate with subject matter experts, and train and assist staff in data querying and extraction.
EJF 4:
Suggest systematic improvements to enhance data quality and reporting, identify data issues, coordinate with internal groups, and provide requirements to improve data collection systems and analytics methods.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in epidemiology, statistics, public health, data science, social or natural sciences, or related field.
At least four years of experience in data acquisition, management, analysis, visualization, and presentation of health or large datasets.
At least four years of experience writing queries and using statistical software such as SAS or SPSS.
Experience collecting, managing, and analyzing geospatial data.
Demonstrated effective written communication skills.
