The Opportunity: Join Smurfit Westrock as a
Material Handler
and play a critical role in keeping our operations running smoothly. In this role, you'll be responsible for the timely movement of raw materials and finished goods across departments, ensuring production teams have what they need, when they need it. You'll work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where accuracy, teamwork, and reliability are key to success.
How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock: Ensure uninterrupted production by delivering raw materials and finished goods to the appropriate departments in a timely manner Maintain accurate inventory integrity by tracking all material movements in both physical and electronic systems Load and unload trucks using forklifts and pallet jacks, supporting inbound and outbound logistics Partner with shipping partners and drivers to verify documentation and secure outgoing shipments Support production planning by verifying schedules and staging materials for manufacturing operations Contribute to a clean, safe, and efficient workplace by maintaining organized work areas and properly handling waste and recyclables Follow all standard operating procedures, safety policies, and environmental guidelines Record production and inventory data accurately to support operational reporting Demonstrate flexibility by supporting additional duties as business needs evolve
What You Need to Succeed: Previous material handling or warehouse experience preferred Ability to operate a forklift (or willingness to obtain certification) Basic computer skills with experience in data entry and inventory systems Strong math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and communicate clearly Proven ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, and follow instructions accurately Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, reliability, and time management Self-motivated with solid decision-making skills and work ethic Commitment to safety, attendance, and dependability Willingness to work overtime as needed, especially during peak production periods
