Overview You are the right person for the Mobile Unit Operator position if you are dependable, safety-oriented, and flexible. The mobile unit is built on a bus chassis and requires a Commercial Driver's License. It is used to stage field operations for various PTRC departments across the 12‑county Piedmont Triad Region of North Carolina, primarily the Workforce and Economic Development (WED) Department.
Key Responsibilities
Operate the mobile unit, driving to remote locations within the region.
Set up and de‑install the mobile unit by engaging slide‑outs, stabilizers, and awnings.
Interact with clients and event attendees, providing general customer service.
Travel within the 12‑county Piedmont Triad Region as required.
Participate in random drug testing and comply with the Department of Transportation drug screen and background screening process.
Qualifications
Valid NC Class B commercial driver’s license with passenger endorsement.
Clean driving record and customer‑service skills.
Good interpersonal tact and courtesy when working with customers, staff, and elected officials.
Ability to work 24 hours per week (not to exceed 1,000 hours annually) and adapt to sporadic work schedules.
Compensation & Benefits Starting salary is $22.50 per hour, dependent on credentials and experience. Benefits include company apparel, cell phone stipend, Employee Assistance Program services, and FICA.
Work Status Part‑time, non‑exempt. Maximum of 20 hours in one work week; schedule may vary based on organizational needs.
Other Information All PTRC staff must complete a six‑month probationary period. The Mobile Unit Operator will be placed in a random drug testing pool.
