Senior Electrical Engineer Summary The Senior Electrical Engineer works with cross‑functional teams—other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering, and project leadership—to ensure robust, high‑quality product development. The role enhances designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design, and simulations. The engineer also provides support throughout the manufacturing process of the electrical/mechanical system they have designed.
The Senior Electrical Engineer develops new electrical systems and circuits for various applications. The engineer researches system ideas, draws up plans, captures them in schematics and system specifications, and tests, simulates, validates, and qualifies the systems, making adjustments as needed.
Detailed Description Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
Design, develop, and implement technical solutions in multiple technical areas, lead smaller projects, and coordinate with other engineers.
Review and interpret customer documentation, conduct research, analysis, and experiments with minimal direction from senior staff.
Create technical proposals (solutions and timelines) based on requirements.
Research system ideas and develop plans for these systems.
Design, modify, and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs.
Create designs in line with Celestica’s procedures, regulations, and customer standards.
Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations.
Solve complex problems.
Act as liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
Recommend system modifications.
Electrical
Creation of schematics, bill of materials, diagrams, and drawings.
Analyzing and interpreting data and information.
Creating reports and documentation.
Providing support during the manufacturing process.
Finalizing designs and sending prints to the production department.
Experience with PCB design tools such as Cadence Allegro 16.x & 17.x; experience with Valor Trilogy 5000/NPI preferred.
Experience in high‑density PCB design up to 28 layers and familiarity with high‑speed layout design requirements.
Working knowledge of setting and complying with board and trace constraints.
Strong knowledge of PCB/PCBA manufacturing processes.
Strong knowledge of industry and quality standards; IPC standards preferred.
Strong knowledge of IT platforms and database design.
Familiar with EMC & EMI layout requirements.
Ability to summarize layout experience from customer requirements.
Self‑motivated and capable of completing assignments in a dynamic environment with aggressive schedules and complex design requirements.
Physical Demands
Performed in a normal office environment.
May require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or detailed data.
Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator) are frequently required.
Occasional travel may be required.
Typical Experience
3+ years of related experience in similar job roles.
Typical Education Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
