About
Effortlessly plans, designs, engineers and creates documentation / drawings for work packages on communications systems (e.g. Microwave, Transport Networks, OSP Fiber, etc.) and Telecom Infrastructure (shelters, towers, generators DC Plants, etc)
Manages various and multiple projects from design to Implementation hand-off.
Readily evaluates new technologies, products and materials for potential use.
Coordinates and supports field personnel regarding installation and implementation of system hardware/software on various platforms.
Provides technical assistance to business units on complex problem resolutions.
Confidently interacts with co-workers, vendors and customers to obtain and disseminate information, advise on projects, resolve conflicts, set priorities, coordinate activities, complete projects within time and budget constraints, and provides assistance.
Drafts bid specifications and requests for proposal, and evaluates vendor responses to establish contracts.
Directs projects assigned by management by planning course of action, material resources, and monitoring progress.
Leads/participates meetings, conferences, task forces, committees, events, etc. to provide and receive updated information, work in unity with other agencies with similar communication equipment and system interests.
Researches federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, ordinances, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance of communications systems, and ensure systems are operated within the legal parameters.
Drafts engineering project proposals to define goals, identify the scope, background, and need, and ascertain cost of equipment, parts, and services.
Develops long and short term plans for updating equipment, adding capabilities, enhancing existing systems, and providing improved communications.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is required.
In lieu of education, 2 years of experience for each year of education may be substituted. Experience – communications infrastructure- shelters, towers, critical systems (power/back-up power), racks, MW Radio (PTP, PTMP, licensed/unlicensed). OSP Fiber.
