About
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server and Oracle database environments.
Develop and implement robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Monitor database performance; identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Ensure security best practices are applied, including cyber protocols, patching, and access controls.
Collaborate with system administrators, developers, and security teams to support application and infrastructure initiatives.
Perform database migration, upgrades, and patching in a controlled and documented manner.
Support cloud‑based database deployments, with familiarity in OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure), Microsoft Azure, and Amazon AWS considered a strong plus.
Create and maintain database documentation, standards, and operating procedures.
Participate in on‑call rotation for critical database support.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior DBAs or technical staff.
Serve as a team lead on projects or tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 7+ years of related experience.
Technical skills:
Proven expertise in database backup/recovery strategies and tools (RMAN, Data Pump, SQL Server backup/restore, etc.).
Strong knowledge of database security, auditing, encryption, and cyber protocols.
Hands‑on experience with performance tuning, indexing strategies, query optimization, and storage configuration.
Solid understanding of high availability and disaster recovery solutions (AlwaysOn, Data Guard, clustering, replication).
Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python or similar).
Experience working with OCI and Azure cloud database services.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, or Infrastructure as Code.
Experience with automation tools and monitoring platforms.
