About
The University of Miami/UHealth department of Facilities has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Manager, Building Facilities to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Manager, Building Facilities manages the activities of various tradesman, including plumbers, carpenters, electricians, HVAC technicians, and other maintenance personnel responsible for ensuring 24/7 operational efficiency of the assigned University facilities.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that staff completes work assignments in a timely and professional fashion, and adheres to all safety regulations.
- Obtaining feedback regarding customer satisfaction with facilities services.
- Addressing employee relations or performance issues, with the assistance of Human Resources.
- Reviewing and analyzing a variety of reports, and ensuring resolution of any identified issues.
- Assisting with the maintenance of budgets for labor, materials, contractors, outsourced functions, and other expenses, and providing recommendations regarding the optimization of resources and budget parameters.
- Reviewing, analyzing, and approving invoices for materials, supplies, and services from outside companies and contractors.
- Utilizing the appropriate systems to compile data and generate reports for budgetary purposes, which illustrate cost trends and maintenance frequency.
- Ensuring appropriate departmental staffing during holidays, disaster preparation and recovery, and other University events.
- Confirming that time cards are completed properly and in a timely manner.
- Establishing and continuously assessing the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensuring employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Core qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, skills and attitudes:
- Knowledge of business and management principles.
- Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
- Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
- Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
- Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.
